Global trade finance crisis: a lasting break?

In the autumn of 2008, world trade came to an abrupt halt, and gross capital movements collapsed to levels not seen for almost 20 years, to the point where the spectre of financial "deglobalization" was raised. How has the credit crisis affected export financing, and how is the situation changing? What are the transmission channels of the crisis at microeconomic level: final demand shock, credit insurance rationing, equity and cash flow constraints? Are we witnessing a hardening of protectionist tendencies? Finally, what is the outlook for industrial and exporting companies over the coming months in terms of cash flow and managing these financing constraints?
