After Copenhagen - It's possible to move away from fossil fuels!
How can fears of energy shortages be reconciled with the need to reduce CO2 emissions? How can environmental constraints be reconciled with economic development? For Henri Prévot, trouble will come much sooner from the effects of climate change than from the depletion of oil or coal. Reducing greenhouse gas emissions is therefore imperative, but does it necessarily involve a radical change in our way of life? Can nuclear power be replaced by other forms of "carbon-free" energy? Will this be expensive? Can the volatility of fossil fuel prices bring everything to a halt? Can France really do anything without waiting for global coordination, and without damaging the competitiveness of its companies? In this uncertain world, how can we effectively combine public policy and individual initiative? How can we turn environmental constraints into a business opportunity? How will the energy mix of the next 30 years be structured?
Henri Prévot, a specialist in energy and sustainable development issues, will give us some concrete, original answers from his latest book, "Trop de Pétrole", which takes him out of the usual camps. In particular, he offers quantified solutions and a genuine strategic roadmap built on three pillars: nuclear power, biomass and energy savings. The aim of these analyses is not only to inspire public authorities, but also to provide answers to business leaders and private individuals in search of a strategy to meet energy and environmental challenges, and the necessary emergence of carbon taxation...
