Michel Glaude has been appointed Director of Statistics for the Internal Market, Employment and Social Affairs at Eurostat, the European statistical office.
Michel Glaude, a graduate of the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ensae, began his career in 1973 at Insee, in the dissemination department. He then joined the Demographic and Social Statistics Directorate, where he was in charge of the "income" and "wealth" divisions. In 1989, he took charge of the new "General Economic Studies" department in the Economic Studies and Syntheses Directorate, before being promoted to Director of Demographic and Social Statistics and Inspector General of INSEE in 1993. He has also been a member of the Haut Conseil à la Population et à la Famille, the Observatoire de la Pauvreté et de l'Exclusion Sociale, and has contributed to several reports by the Conseil d'Analyse Économique, including the one on "Economic Inequalities" in 2001.
